Motivated to Vote

September 20th is the Canadian Federal Election date.

In fact I cast my ballot prior to the September 14th advance deadline. It was available to me as an option and I exercised it.

Coming through this pandemic has been challenging on so many fronts.

Some continue to ask why the Primer Minister decided to call an election. In fact it is estimated that the cost of the Canadian Election in 2021 will be over $610 million.

At that cost one can only imagine where those resources may have been redirected.

The current Prime Minister is seeking a new mandate, supposedly based on the assumption that he and his team have managed the pandemic affairs so they thought they’d just go to the polls and affirm the confidence of Canadians.

Opposition leaders and their parties call into question the timing and cost of this election and have attempted to offer an alternative to this current government through their platforms, policies and promises.

So…

We are at the eleventh hour of the campaign window and tomorrow is the actual day to cast your ballot.

Many factors could drive your decision on whom you vote for tomorrow:

  • “I always vote for that party…”
  • My family is traditionally “xx party”
  • I like the leader
  • The policies of xx party are most aligned with my ideologies and belief system
  • I’m from xx part of Canada and that party and leader are best for us long term
  • I’m fed up with xx and I’m voting for xx…
  • I really like my local candidate xx and I’m voting for them regardless of party lines
  • It’s time for change so I’m voting for xx for change…
  • Leader xx really appeals to me…
  • Leader xx is really not appealing to me…
  • I really believe in xx issue / policy and that is guiding my decision
  • I care about the future and xx party is best suited to that vision I have for us and our next generations

Whatever your motivation, please be sure to VOTE on Election Day.

Realistically, men and women have fought for this right, for our democracy, for the opportunity and privilege that we have to debate, dialogue, agree, disagree and reach a decision on what person and what party we vote for come election day.

In honour of generations before us that have secured our right to VOTE. Let’s get out and VOTE.
